The Community Bank Investments School (CBIS) is a three-and-a-half day training that delivers strategies on how to independently manage a community bank investment portfolio.
CBIS is designed for individuals who have completed GSBC+Invest’s Bond Basics or similar training and/or portfolio managers and executive officers who play a role in making investment decisions. Under the guidance of investments experts, participants view their banks’ individual bond portfolios on Bloomberg terminals to learn how to weigh the strengths and weaknesses of buying decisions, how to design and maintain a profitable investments strategy and how to create a pre-purchase plan.

What People Are Saying
I took Bond Basics and attended the Community Bank Investments School in 2023. Both programs were very helpful in gaining more knowledge about various aspects of investments. The faculty were well informed and shared many examples from their own professional experiences. The curriculum was tailored to the current economic environment and challenges that many community banks face today. I especially enjoyed the Bloomberg lab at CBIS where I was able to apply concepts we learned during classes and analyze many investment types. I would highly recommend these programs to banking professionals who are looking to strengthen their knowledge on how to manage an investment portfolio.
The Community Bank Investment School exceeded all of my expectations. The program has a very dynamic group of instructors who are very knowledgeable and engaging teachers. The school covered everything from analyzing individual bonds, understanding sectors and utilizing Bloomberg screens to ALCO & portfolio analysis. I would highly recommend CBIS to any banker involved in their bank’s investment portfolio!
The Community Bank Investments School was incredibly helpful in both outlining and explaining the various investment options that are available, and discussing investment strategies that can be utilized in varying economic conditions. The instructors were all incredibly knowledgeable and explained topics in a manner that made them easy to understand and digest. After attending, I feel much better equipped to intelligently discuss matters surrounding our investment portfolio and provide insight that can benefit our institution.
