Annual School Session Curriculum

GSBC Builds Community Bank Leaders

GSBC’s curriculum transforms community bankers into community bank leaders by:

  • Providing the essentials from which a solid education is built
  • Building leaders who make differences in their banks and communities
  • Fostering readiness by providing the tools to think critically and act innovatively

Curriculum Design

GSBC organizes its Annual School Session curriculum around four banking competencies. These competencies are represented in core and elective courses throughout the 25-month program:

  1. Financial Management & Strategy
  2. Innovation & Engagement
  3. Leadership & Culture
  4. Lending

Core & Elective Courses

Core courses are taught in each student year and represent a balance of the four competencies above. Students can expect to engage in a broad and all-encompassing banking curriculum through core courses taught throughout their GSBC experience.

Elective courses are selected by students beginning in their first year and may represent a variety of competencies depending on students’ and sponsoring institutions’ desires for their experience. Students are not required to select any one specific mix of competencies while choosing their electives.

All curriculum elements, including courses, intersession research projects and evening presentations focus on current issues affecting community banks and provide direct takeaways to enhance organizational performance. Curriculum is subject to change.

Curriculum by Student Year

Review a list of courses, read their descriptions and learn about the expert faculty that teach them for each student year at GSBC.
