GSBC Webinar Series to Spotlight Economy and Stablecoins Ahead of Annual School Session

GSBC will prepare students for its Annual School Session with a two-part pre-session webinar series featuring nationally recognized speakers and timely industry topics.

Esther George to Deliver Economic Outlook for Community Banks

The series is headlined by Esther George, former president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, who will deliver an economic update to help frame key challenges and leadership considerations facing community banks.

Panel Discussion Brings Industry Perspectives Together

George’s session will include a follow-up panel discussion featuring GSBC faculty member Perry Haralson (Cornhusker Bank, Lincoln, Neb.) and students Shelbie Fitch (Stock Exchange Bank, Caldwell, Kan.) and Phil Nash (Community Bank & Trust, Waterloo, Iowa), bringing together perspectives from across the program.

Exploring Stablecoins and Digital Asset Risks

GSBC will also present “Opportunities & Risks of Stablecoins for Community Banks,” led by University of Wyoming finance professor Ali Nejadmalayeri, offering insight into the growing role of digital assets and their implications for the industry.

“These pre-session webinars give students critical context on today’s most important issues so they can engage at a higher level from day one,” said GSBC President & CEO Michael Stevens.

Preparing Students for the Annual School Experience

The webinars are designed to establish a shared foundation for discussion ahead of the GSBC Annual School Session, taking place July 19–31, 2026, in Boulder.
