GSBC Expands Board Leadership With Appointments Reflecting Community Banking’s Future

GSBC has expanded its governing board with the addition of two accomplished banking leaders whose experience reflects both the enduring strengths and emerging opportunities shaping community banking.

Dan Stocker, President, CEO and Chairman of First Iowa State Bank in Albia, Iowa has been appointed to the GSBC Board of Trustees. Patrick Gerhart, President of Telcoin Digital Asset Bank in Norfolk, Neb. joins as a Trustee Advisor, becoming the first advisor to the board with leadership experience spanning traditional community banking and emerging digital banking technologies.

Together, the appointments reinforce GSBC’s commitment to building a governing board with diverse expertise, ensuring the school’s curriculum and strategic priorities continue evolving alongside the industry they serve.

“Our board should reflect the industry we serve,” said GSBC President & CEO Michael Stevens. “Dan brings a lifetime of community banking leadership, while Patrick offers valuable insight into emerging banking technologies. Together, they’ll help ensure GSBC prepares bankers for the future.”

A 2005 graduate of GSBC, Stocker has spent more than three decades with First Iowa State Bank, where he has led strategic growth, governance and the organization’s transition to a 100% employee-owned community banking model. Throughout his career, he has championed leadership development while serving on the Board of Directors for Community Bankers of Iowa, the ICBA Legislative Issues Committee and the Finance Committee of The ESOP Association.

Stocker’s appointment also reinforces GSBC’s longstanding relationship with Iowa, one of the school’s strongest supporting states and a cornerstone of the nation’s community banking industry. As both a GSBC alumnus and respected industry leader, he brings valuable governance experience and a deep understanding of the school’s mission to the Board of Trustees.

Gerhart’s appointment reflects GSBC’s commitment to understanding the trends reshaping financial services. A former community bank president, he now leads Telcoin Digital Asset Bank, where his work focuses on the intersection of banking, digital assets and emerging banking technologies. His experience in both traditional community banking and digital banking provides the board with valuable perspective as community banks navigate an increasingly dynamic financial landscape.

Named one of Independent Banker magazine’s 40 Under 40, Gerhart has built a career that bridges banking, public policy and innovation. As a Trustee Advisor, he will provide strategic insight on emerging technologies while helping ensure GSBC continues preparing leaders for the future of community banking.

The GSBC Board of Trustees provides strategic governance for the school, ensuring its educational programs continue to meet the evolving needs of community banks nationwide. Comprised of community bankers, regulators and advisors representing the school’s strongest supporting states, the board’s newest appointments reflect GSBC’s continued investment in thoughtful leadership and governance.
