Dan Stocker serves as President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of First Iowa State Bank and Van Buren Bancorporation, where he also serves as Chairman of the ESOP Trustees. He has spent more than three decades with the organization, leading strategic growth, governance and its transition to a 100% employee-owned community banking organization.
Stocker began his banking career as a college intern with First Iowa State Bank before earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and becoming a Certified Public Accountant. After several years in public accounting, he returned to the bank in 1993, serving in a variety of leadership roles including lender, Chief Financial Officer, IT manager, BSA officer and Human Resources manager before being named President and CEO.
A graduate of GSBC’s Annual School Session, Stocker earned his diploma in 2005. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Community Bankers of Iowa, the ICBA Legislative Issues Committee and the Finance Committee of The ESOP Association. He is a strong advocate for community banking and lifelong leadership development, and values the relationships and professional network he built through GSBC.
