Economic Update
Presenters:
Dimitri Delis, Senior Econometric/Macro Strategist – Piper Sandler
Jason Mork ’16, Director – Piper Sandler
Sara Butch, ’23, VP, Director of Retail Banking – First Federal Bank of Kansas City
Zach Neuman, SVP – Credit – Northeast Bank, Minneapolis
To establish an economic foundation for the summer session, GSBC is pleased to provide an economic update from Dimitri Delis, Senior Econometric/Macro Strategist from Piper Sandler. The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion by GSBC alums Jason Mork, Sara Butch, and Zach Neuman. The discussion will provide a reaction to Dimitri’s presentation focusing on three key areas directly impacting community banks: bond market, consumers, and commercial.
This discussion should be viewed as a starting point for discussion and debate. It is not a GSBC forecast. We encourage you to find areas of agreement and areas of disagreement. We believe this provides such a strong foundation for your two weeks at GSBC; we are requiring this as pre-session work for students and faculty.
Regulatory Perspectives
Presenters:
Nathan Ross, Vice President – Conference of State Bank Supervisors
Joey Samowitz, Senior Director, Policy Development – Conference of State Bank Supervisors
Every election and administration change brings a new agenda and regulatory approach. Few times in modern history have presented such a stark change in regulatory philosophy. As the banking industry has long-sought regulatory relief, this may provide a unique opportunity. GSBC alums Nathan Ross and Joey Samowitz will provide the latest insight on the key players and potential agenda from Congress and the federal agencies. This is a non-partisan, pragmatic presentation based on the current environment and direction of federal policy.
