Lance is a native Wamego, Kansas, and a graduate of Kansas State University with a B.S. in Accounting and has been President/CEO of Bank of the Flint Hills since 2009. He and his wife Kara have two boys ages 12, and 15.

After a stint in Kansas City with Commerce Bank in the commercial lending department, he was asked to return home in 2000 to work as a commercial lender for the bank (formerly known as First National Bank of Wamego) where his Father was currently President.

He has served on the CVB Board of Visit Wamego, the Board and is past-Chair of the Wamego Chamber of Commerce, the Board and is past-Chair of The Columbian Theatre Foundation and is a PYRO Crew member for the Celebrate Freedom in Wamego 4th of July extravaganza. In Wamego in 2017, he was recognized as Citizen of the Year & Grand Marshall of the parade. He is a mentor for high school students in the Wamego community and a strong supporter and founding member of a Youth Golf organization for young women.

He is strongly supportive of healthy and viable local hospitals in rural and smaller communities. He is past chair of the Wamego Hospital Board and is currently the Chairman of the Board of  Via Christi Hospital and has been active on this board for over 12 years. In 2017 he received the Trustee of the Year Award for his contributions to hospitals in Kansas. The award recognizes and honors hospital board members who are leaders, give back to the community and routinely go beyond the call of duty, providing an exemplary contribution through their leadership and governance,

In 2016, Lance joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council. This council covers 7 states & he is the lone representative from Kansas.
