Jim has worked with a broad range of audiences, such as “C” suite executive leaders, senior and middle managers, front line workers, and executive MBA and undergraduate students. Some of the industries where Jim has employed his coaching and leadership development skills include: Western Asset Management, Sanofi/Aventis Int’l, SAP, Charles Schwab, University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, Oracle, Colorado Dept. of Higher Education, The Denver Police Department, Comcast Corporation, the National Science Foundation, and Thomson-Reuters.
Jim’s coaching background is founded in emotional/social intelligence theory. Jim was certified as a Professional Certified Coach in 2009. Jim’s certifying mentor and coach was/is author Annie McKee. Annie co-authored Primal Leadership with Daniel Goleman, in addition to her own work – Resonant Leadership and How to be Happy at Work.
In the corporate arena, Jim has held various diverse leadership roles, including City Manager for People Express Airlines, Senior Services Director for Sun Microsystems, and Distance Learning Manager and Senior Performance Analyst in education and training for Lucent Technologies. In 2014, Jim was contracted to develop a leadership institute for the American University of Rome, where he lived for 1 year. Jim holds a doctorate in 19th century American literature from the University of Denver and was a major contributor to both the first and second editions of Management: A Focus on Leadership by Annie McKee for Pearson/Prentice Hall. In addition to his consulting practice, Jim is a senior instructor, at the Business School of the University of Colorado Denver and adjunct instructor at the Colorado State University School of Business.
