GSBC is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Baker, executive vice president and chief credit officer of Bank of the Plains, Salina, Kan., to its Alumni Advisory Board.

Baker was born and raised in Auburn, Wash., and moved to Kansas in 1996 to attend Bethany College in Lindsborg. After graduation, Baker began his career in banking in 2001 and has experience in all areas of lending, as well as analytics, management and project implementation.

Baker is a 2011 graduate of GSBC’s Annual School Session and a 2023 graduate of GSBC’s Executive Development Institute for Community Bankers. Chris is the first alum with dual GSBC diplomas to serve on the board.

“GSBC has a strong tradition of serving Kansas banks, and Chris will be an excellent advisor to us as we continue to support their leaders through educational programs and alumni initiatives,” said GSBC’s vice president of strategy and innovation, Josie Bunch.

Chris is married to Traci, and they have twin boys, Gabriel and Ezekiel. His interests include spending time with family, hunting, fly fishing, camping and spending time on the water.

Isaac succeeds Brandon Lee, president & CEO of Union State Bank in Clay Center, Kan., as the Kansas representative on the GSBC Alumni Advisory Board.
