BOULDER, COLO. – Troy Appling, executive vice president, The Bankers Bank, Oklahoma City, Okla., has been appointed chair of the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) for 2018.
Appling’s career as a second-generation banker spans more than 25 years. He has worked in several areas of banking including lending, operations, IT and marketing. He is active in many professional organizations, having previously served as an instructor and board member for the Oklahoma Bankers Association, and a guest speaker for the Community Bankers Association of Oklahoma.
“GSBC has an exciting agenda for 2018, and Troy’s energy and foresight into industry trends make him an excellent leader of our board in the coming year,” said GSBC President Tim Koch.
Appling grew up in Lone Wolf, Okla. He received his Bachelor’s degree in finance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (Weatherford), where he was a four-year letter winner in football. He is a 2003 graduate of GSBC, where he served as a class representative and was subsequently named a trustee advisor, serving as chair of the GSBC Alumni Association from 2004-2010.
Appling resides in Norman, Okla., where he spends most of his time with his wife Heidi, and his two sons, Blake (23) and Jace (17).
He succeeds outgoing GSBC chair Paul Thompson, chairman, chief executive officer and president, Country Club Bank, Kansas City, Mo.
