Christie Huber Obenauer was born and raised in North Dakota. After graduating from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a dual major in Economics and Political Science, she began her full-time banking career at what was then Norwest Bank in their Management Training Program in Fargo, ND. She continued with Norwest Bank in Business Banking in Bismarck, ND, before moving to Boise, ID, where she was a Business and Private Banker for a regional bank in the Boise market. She moved back to her hometown of Hazen, ND, in 2002, where she continued her banking career at her family’s community bank, Union State Bank.

Christie represents the fourth generation in her family to lead their nearly 120-year-old institution. Union State Bank has four locations among three communities in Mercer County, and is about $265 million in assets. Christie is active in local, state and national boards for banking, including the Bank of North Dakota Advisory Board and the American Bankers Association Board of Directors.

She cares deeply about people, purpose and service in the community banking industry she loves.
