Tom Williams is the Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Strategy Manager for Centurion Disaster Recovery Services, a division of Jack Henry & Associates. He is responsible for educating and assisting financial institutions in selecting the proper Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) products and services for their institutions.
With more than 38 years of business experience and 29 years of experience in the BCP/DR industry, Tom has evolved as a recognized expert in the field of BCP/DR. Tom is a 12-year member of the National Speakers Association and is sought out on a regular basis to speak on various topics related to BCP/DR, as well as motivational topics. Some of his speaking engagements include the Graduate School of Banking, The Western Independent Bankers Association, The Michigan Bankers Association, multiple Jack Henry User Group Associations and the Western CUNA Management School. He also provides educational webcasts on various BCP/DR related topics. Tom is also on the faculty of The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin where he teaches BCP/DR as well as The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado.
Tom is the founder and chief facilitator of the Centurion Mock Disaster/Cyber Attack Drill, which is a simulated exercise for executives, management and business teams where he facilitates the simulation of an actual disaster, or cyber-attack incident. The drills goes beyond the traditional table top exercises to stress-test the organizations Business Continuity / Incident Response Plans.
Tom joined Centurion in 2000 to establish the Business Continuity Planning consulting practice within Centurion. This consisted of building and training the consulting staff, developing a BCP methodology and producing the associated customer deliverables. The consulting team has assisted hundreds of financial institutions in the development of Enterprise Wide BCP’s. Tom and his consulting team were also responsible for developing Jack Henry’s corporate BCP. Prior to joining Centurion Tom worked for IBM for 23 years. The last 14 years of Tom’s tenure with IBM he served as a consultant with IBM’s Business Recovery Consulting Group, assisting clients in multiple industries in the development of their BCP’s.
Tom’s dynamic presentation style makes his presentations interactive, educational, motivational, thought provoking, and inspirational. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and a Masters in Management from Walsh College in Troy, MI.
