Paul J. Thompson is Chairman, President & CEO of Country Club Bank, a $1.3 billion commercial bank serving the greater Kansas City Metropolitan area which also owns and operates a $2.2 billion trust company. Known for their investment expertise as an institutional broker-dealer, the Bank’s Capital Markets Group and AMG subsidiary provide advice and fixed-income securities sales to financial institutions in more than 35 states across the country. In addition, Country Club Capital Advisors assist banks and other companies with buy and sell-side M&A transactions, capital planning and other strategic planning.

Paul is a Kansas City native and has spent his 35 year banking career in the Kansas City area. Paul serves as a Class A Director on the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He previously served as the 2008 – 2009 Chairman of the Missouri Bankers Association. He has also been an active member of the American Bankers Association, having served on the ABA Accounting Committee, the ABA Community Bankers Council, the ABA Membership Committee and the ABA Government Relations Council Administrative Committee.

Paul is a licensed CPA in Missouri and earned his finance degree from Creighton University; an MBA from Rockhurst University; and is a graduate and current Trustee of the Graduate School of Banking, University of Colorado.

Paul’s professional and civic associations include Creighton University, Heider College of Business – Advisory Council Member; Economic Club of Kansas City – Director; Rockhurst High School – Trustee; Catholic Charities Snow Ball – Immediate Past Chairman; U.S. Army Command & General Staff College Foundation – former Board member; Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet – former Board member; Redemptorist Social Services Center – former Director; and Rockhurst University – past Honorary Director.

Paul and his wife, Mary, have been married for 30 years and are the proud parents to five adult children.
