After nearly two decades working in banking and financial management, Maggie Abney discovered her passion for inspiring young graduates to pursue careers in banking. As executive-in-residence and finance instructor at Eastern Kentucky University, she collaborates with industry leaders to create experiential learning in the classroom. She teaches Personal Financial Planning, Entrepreneurial Finance, Financial Markets and Institutions, and Bank Management.

In addition to teaching finance courses, she serves as the director of the Undergraduate Banking Program at Eastern Kentucky University (EDU) and chairs the EKU College of Business Banking Advisory Committee, comprised of regional leaders in the banking industry. Her team hosts continuing education forums for community banking professionals that showcase student research and expert speakers from across the nation on topics such as community banking industry trends, government relations in banking, economic trends, fintech, the future of payments and banking millennials and gen Z.

Maggie graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, holds a Master’s of Business Administration and Certification in Treasury Management (CTP).  She was the GSBC Jentz Fellow Award in 2019.
