Jerry Crigger serves as the Community Banking Executive for Synovus Bank Tennessee/Alabama Division. Prior to accepting his current position, he held the Chair of Excellence in Banking and Financial Services for the Department of Economics and Finance of Tennessee State University. Jerry has a career in banking and education spanning more than 40 years. His banking career included responsibilities of leadership for commercial and corporate banking, retail banking, and as senior credit officer for multi-state regions of two top twenty banks. Jerry also served as Senior Consultant: Credit and Risk for Omega Performance Corporation, an international consultancy specializing in performance improvement for financial institutions.

Jerry holds a Doctor of Arts in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Jerry is a nationally known educator for banking education, specializing in performance improvement related to commercial lending and credit, credit culture, and loan portfolio administration. He has held numerous banking school and university faculty positions for over 30 years. Among his faculty appointments are: The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (University of Colorado); The Pacific Coast Banking School (University of Washington); The Graduate School of Banking (University of Wisconsin); The Graduate School of Banking at LSU (Louisiana State University); The Stonier Graduate School of Banking (University of Delaware); The Southeastern School of Commercial Lending (Vanderbilt University); The Central Atlantic School of Commercial Lending (Bucknell University); The National Commercial Lending School (The University of Oklahoma); Universities: Tennessee State University, School of Economics and Finance; Belmont University, School of Economics and Finance; The University of Tennessee @ Chattanooga, School of Economics and Finance; and Middle Tennessee State University, School of Economics and Finance.
