Jerry Crigger serves as the Community Banking Executive for Synovus Bank Tennessee/Alabama Division. Prior to accepting his current position, he held the Chair of Excellence in Banking and Financial Services for the Department of Economics and Finance of Tennessee State University. Jerry has a career in banking and education spanning more than 40 years. His banking career included responsibilities of leadership for commercial and corporate banking, retail banking, and as senior credit officer for multi-state regions of two top twenty banks. Jerry also served as Senior Consultant: Credit and Risk for Omega Performance Corporation, an international consultancy specializing in performance improvement for financial institutions.
Jerry holds a Doctor of Arts in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Jerry is a nationally known educator for banking education, specializing in performance improvement related to commercial lending and credit, credit culture, and loan portfolio administration. He has held numerous banking school and university faculty positions for over 30 years.
