Thomas Kenning started his banking career with FirstBank in Denver in 1983. In 1991 he became owner and manager of the Western Hotel in Ouray, Colorado, learning banking from “the other side of the desk.” In 1993 he returned to banking as the EVP/cashier of the Bank of Telluride, in Colorado. In 1995 Tom was named president and CEO of First National Bank, also in Telluride. First National Bank was acquired by Alpine Bank in 2006 and in 2009, Tom became the COO of Alpine Bank and has served as the chief administration officer since 2016.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Colorado State University. He currently serves as chair of the State of Colorado Securities board of directors and is on the Western Independent Bankers Association’s bankers benefit board. He is also the chair of the Roaring Fork Valley Habitat for Humanity and serves as president of the Glenwood Springs Sunset Rotary club. He is also locally involved in the El Pomar Foundation, Youth Entity and the Pre-Collegiate Mentoring Program.
Tom and his wife Tamela have two sons and two grandsons. He enjoys skiing, golfing, biking, hiking, fishing and music.
