Why GSBC?
Since opening its doors in 1950, the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC) has become the school of choice for community banking professionals. Why? It's not just the fresh air and scenery. Each year we refine our school to provide the best educational experience possible. We focus on the needs of community bank managers by ensuring that class discussions, cases examples and intersession projects are targeted at issues faced by senior managers of community banks. We keep it challenging, interesting, fun, and accessible. We provide you with the information and skills to improve your firm's performance and enhance your personal growth.
Curriculum GSBC offers Career Tracks to assist in your curriculum choices. The Career Tracks are
each of which consist of required core curriculum and numerous elective classes. Electives build off the material covered in earlier core classes to enhance retention and skill development.
After finishing the first year of classes, each participant completes three intersession research projects before attending the second year program. Each project requires the participant to use information obtained during the school session to examine an issue directly related to his/her sponsoring bank. After finishing the second year of classes, each participant completes another three (different) research projects. These projects are a core component of the educational experience in that they represent an excellent learning opportunity and provide value to the sponsoring bank. Innovation GSBC provides the flexibility to meet your educational needs. GSBC offers two alternatives to completing school requirements. The traditional method is to attend classes on campus for two weeks during three consecutive summers. Alternatively, we off a Computer-Based Education (CBE) program in which you complete the first week of classes for the first and second years online via instructor-lead distance education seminars from the convenience of your home or office.
Selected GSBC students may also qualify to be admitted as Second Year Direct students if you meet one of the following requirements:
In addition, GSBC is a partner with the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in offering all graduates of GSBC credit toward an MBA degree. UNL's program can be completed entirely online and is modestly priced relative to most MBA programs offered nationally. GSBC has also partnered with the Business School at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center to offer credits to GSBC graduates for a Professional MBA or MS Finance Program. Lastly, our most recent partnership is with the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business Executive MBA Program.
