HISTORY & REPUTATION
Celebrating 60 Years...

In September 1950, the Colorado Bankers Association (CBA) and the University of Colorado (CU) Board of Regents co-sponsored the organization and operation of the Colorado School of Banking for approximately twenty Colorado bank employees for a two week period in the summer of 1951 on the
Boulder campus of CU. On December 18, 1959, the Regents of the University approved the request of the Board of Trustees of the Colorado School of Banking that the School continues indefinitely for two weeks every summer on the
Boulder campus of the
University of
Colorado without limitation on the number of selected students.
The
School of
Banking was established “to make available to persons who have chosen banking as a career an intensive course of study of pertinent subject matter, and to enable them to participate in the discussion of comprehensive banking problems. The purpose of this program is to provide junior officers and other bank employees with an opportunity for self-improvement through better understanding of: banking operations and management; the place of banking in the economic structure of the country; and the importance of the role of banking personnel in business affairs. Ultimately, the goal of this educational endeavor is not only the development of greater proficiency on the part of its partici
pants in their pursuits, but also to promote their eligibility for more rapid advancement to positions of greater responsibility.”
We are proud that today the School has educated more than 7,000 bankers, regulators and other members of the financial services industry. While upholding its long-standing educational reputation, GSBC continues to adapt to the changing times and provide the premier educational experience for community bankers.
